LIU Brooklyn's Josh Waters
Final Results
Baton Rouge, LA -- Senior Josh Waters concluded a fabulous LIU Brooklyn career on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Men's Golf Regional. Waters, a two-time All-Northeast Conference selection and the league's Player of the Year this season, fired his second consecutive round of 76 and closed the tournament in a tie for 55th.
After back-to-back double-bogeys to start his round, Waters recovered nicely with a birdie and six pars over the final seven holes of his front nine (the back nine of the course). Following the turn, two more pars followed before consecutive birdies on the third and fourth holes to bring Waters to one-over par on the day.
Despite bogeys on his final three holes, Waters matched his top 18-hole score for the tournament and concluded a standout senior year that saw him record eight Top-10 finishes, earn a pair of individual victories and become the first LIU Brooklyn men's golfer to earn conference Player of the Year accolades.
In the team competition, Alabama overtook second-day leader Florida to earn the NCAA Regiona victory by six strokes. Scott Strohmeyer and Bobby Wyatt led the charge for the Crimson Tide, finishing 1-2 individually. LSU, Tennessee and Coastal Carolina also advanced to the NCAA Championships.
