Eugene, OR -- LIU Brooklyn track & field standout Brendon Rodney was named an All-American for the second time this season on Thursday, setting a new school record in the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Championships on Thursday.
The sophomore became the second Blackbird in as many days to reach All-America status, as freshman Mica-Jonathan Petit Homme was an honorable mention honoree in the 400-meter hurdles.
Rodney finished the second heat of the 200-meter dash in a time of 20.58, which bettered his previous school best of 20.60 set at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships in May. In the process, the Brampton, Ontario product finished the semifinal round of nationals with better times than runners from national powers LSU, Texas A&M, Washington and Florida.
The time was good for 13th place out of 24 participants, 25 one-hundreths of a second out of a qualifying spot for the 200-meter finals to effectively end Rodney's successful sophomore season.
Earlier this year, Rodney was named to the USTFCCCA All-America Second Team after finishing seventh at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
