St. Francis Brooklyn Athletic Department Volunteers At NYC Marathon For Second Straight Year

11/3/2014

The St. Francis Brooklyn Athletic Department, including student-athletes, coaches, and staff, volunteered their time at the 2014 NYC Marathon on Sunday.  It was the second consecutive year that the Terriers were able to play an important role in the city's biggest event.

The group was stationed at the mile 11 mark in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and handed out water and sports drinks to the more than 40,000 thirsty runners.  The team arrived in the early hours of the morning to set-up and braved harsh weather condiitons all day long.

"We love being able to help out the city and the thousands of runners that compete in this event," said Terriers' director of athletics Irma Garcia.  "It's in our nature as Franciscans to give back to our community and I'm proud of our group for coming out to help today."
