Bryant vs. Cancer: Baseball Shaving Heads on Monday

2/7/2014

Smithfield, RI -- The Bryant University baseball team is joining forces with the Vs. Cancer Foundation and shaving their heads this Monday, Feb. 10 to raise money to help cure childhood cancer. Half the proceeds will go to the Vs. Cancer Foundation and half will go to the Hasbro Children's Hospital in Rhode Island.

On Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Rotunda, the Bulldogs will all shave their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer while also raising money and awareness for an important cause. Over the last three weeks, the players have been raising money through an online donation platform. Those interested in donating can donate to the team directly or donate to a specific player through their player page. The teams goal was for $5,000 and they have already achieved that goal, having currently raised $5,238.

The Vs. Cancer Foundation is committed to helping children fighting cancer as well as raising funds to continue the necessary research and help create a positive outcome for future cancer patients. Half of all proceeds raised from a Vs. Cancer head-shaving event will go to a local childhood cancer hospital and the remaining monies will fund research at a national level.

Over the last two seasons, the baseball team has raised over $7,000 to help support childhood cancer research. The Bulldogs raised over $5,000 alone last year.
