Toledo, OH – The Robert Morris University women's basketball team watched its 2013-14 season come to a close with a 93-42 loss to the second-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Savage Arena in Toledo, Ohio, Saturday afternoon. The Colonials wrap up the season with a 21-12 overall record.
"I congratulate Notre Dame. They're an outstanding team, but I want to focus on my team," said 11th year RMU head coach
Sal Buscaglia. "I want to focus on the seniors. They work the tails off for me everyday. I wouldn't replace any one of these 12 ladies for anyone in the country."
Senior forward
Artemis Spanou, the two-time Northeast Conference Player of the Year, was double and even triple-teamed by the Irish. Spanou finished with seven points, six rebounds and four assists. Freshman guard
Anna Niki Stamolamprou had a team-high 12 points while freshman
Rebeca Navarro chipped in nine points with a trio of three-pointers.
Michaela Mabrey had 16 points to lead all scorers for Notre Dame. Natalie Achonwa and Jewell Lloyd each had 15 points. The Irish extend their unbeaten streak to 33 games and remain perfect at 33-0.
