Daytona, FL - Bryant University held of a strong push by Fairleigh Dickinson to claim the 2014 Northeast Conference Men's Golf championship. The Bulldogs placed all five-players in the top-25 after completing the second round Sunday on LPGA International "Jones" course in Daytona Beach, Florida.
In dramatic fashion Sacred Heart red-shirt junior,
Peter Ballo, clinched first place after a two-hole playoff. Ballo entered Sunday tied for 11th place, shooting a first round 75. Ballo carded the low-score of the tournament, 66 (-6), to tie with Bryant's Ryan Tombs after 36-holes. The tie forced a sudden-death playoff and Ballo won on the second hole thanks to an eagle on a par five.
Bryant and Ballo will represent the NEC at the NCAA Tournament. The 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships selections will be announced live on Monday, May 5 during Golf Central, Golf Channel's daily signature news show, with dedicated segments airing that evening from 6-7 p.m. ET. Additionally, Golf Central will be streamed live on Golf Channel's website via Golf Live Extra at
