NEC Player of the Week
Kelsey Parker, Wagner
Shortstop, Senior, Lynnwood, WA/Lynnwood
The 2014 NEC statistical champion in batting average appears prepared to defend her title. Parker went 7-for-13 (.538) and amassed a .923 slugging percentage at the Adidas tournament. The senior shortstop wasted no time in making her mark on the season, blasting a two run home run in her first at bat of the season, leading the Seahawks to an opening 9-3 win over Coppin State. Parker collected two hits and two RBI’s in a 4-9 loss to Winthrop. In the weekend finale against Hartford, Parker drove in the winning runs and scored the final run of the game to seal the 9-7 win for the Seahawks.
NEC Pitcher of the Week
Nicole Sleith, Robert Morris
Pitcher, Senior, Smithton, PA/Yough
Sleith continued her dominance in the circle this season, posting a 1.43 ERA in 14.2 innings of work over the course of three games at the Green and White Tournament. The senior displayed pinpoint control, striking out 22 batters while walking just three and hitting none. Sleith’s best performance came in a complete-game effort against Charlotte in which she yielded three hits, zero earned runs, and struck out 12 batters. It was her fifth double-digit strikeout effort in seven starts and the 19th of her career. She now has 88 strikeouts in 54.1 innings this season.
NEC Rookie of the Week
Morgan Alisauckas, Mount St. Mary’s
Utility, Freshman, Pottsville, PA/Pottsville
Alisauckas remained hot at the Coastal Carolina Invitational, earning All-Tournament Team honors for her play. Alisauckas, who leads the Mount with a .389 batting average this season, continued swinging a hot stick, batting .385 with 5 RBIs, two doubles, one home run and a .769 slugging percentage in six games over the weekend. The freshman proved to be versatile as well, playing flawless defense with three starts in right field, two at shortstop and one at second base. The freshman played her best game against Coastal Carolina on Saturday as she blasted a two-run home run and drove in two more on the day.
