3/21/2015

Greensboro, NC – Wagner College sophomore Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI/ Hawaii Preparatory Academy) concluded competition in the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Saturday, finishing 54th in the 200 Backstroke overall following a seventh-place finish in her heat with a time of 2:01.43.

The first Seahawk to ever attend this event, Nihipali's effort today came one day after placing fifth in her heat in the 100 Back, where she touched the wall in a time of 53.39. Overall, she moved up five places from her original No. 39 seeding and now ranks No. 34 in the country in 100 Back.

Wagner is one of 63 Division I schools to have a participant compete in this prestigious meet. To qualfy for the NCAA Championships, an individual must make an NCAA qualifying cut time, then rank in the top 39 of the specific event.

Nihipali clinched a spot in the Championships when she swam a 52.97 in the 100 Back at the 2014 AT&T Winter Nationals back in December. This qualifying time ranked her No. 39 going into NCAA's.
