Philadelphia, PA -- Bryant is once again the NEC Men’s Lacrosse Champion after defeating top-seeded Saint Joseph’s, 10-6, for the program's fourth straight NEC Championship.

Junior attacker Shane Morrell (Glen Mills, Pa./Episcopal Academy) led third-seeded Bryant with three goals including two goals in the first quarter. Sophomore teammate Tucker James (Essex Fells, N.J./Bergen Catholic) notched two goals and an assist. Tournament MVP Gunnar Waldt (Freeland, Md./Saint Paul’s School) finished the game with 11 total saves, and kept Saint Joseph’s off of the board early with two huge saves in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter and controlled the pace of the game early. Saint Joseph’s converted on two man-up opportunities in the second quarter and cut the Bryant lead to 5-4 going into halftime.

Along with Waldt, Bryant faceoff man and three-time NEC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Year Kevin Massa (Huntington, N.Y./Elwood John Glenn) was the “x-factor” for the Bulldogs, going an impressive 17-20 at the faceoff X.

Overall, Saint Joseph’s outshot Bryant 36-30, but the Bulldogs held a 33-24 advantage in ground balls. Both teams converted twice on man-up opportunities. The Bulldogs find out who they will play when the field is announced Sunday, May 3, at 9 pm on ESPNU.
