Emmitsburg, MD - They may not have been there for last year’s team title, but without them this year there would be no repeat.

Central Connecticut received significant contributions from a pair of freshmen, allowing the Blue Devils to secure their second consecutive Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field crown.

Freshman Sam Borecki posted a win in the pole vault while Latham scored in four events. The latter shared the NEC Most Outstanding Rookie Performer award with Mount St. Mary’s freshman Darryl Workcuff.

With CCSU hanging on to first place by a 9.5-point margin, the efforts of those freshmen proved huge.

The Blue Devils totaled 170.5 points over the course of the two-day meet while LIU Brooklyn maxed out at 161.

LIU benefitted from a high number of multi-event scorers with Meet MVP Brendon Rodney leading that contingent of Blackbirds.

Story will be updated with more details soon.
