Raleigh, NC -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's golf team completed play at the 2015 NCAA Regional on Saturday. The Knights were led by sophomore
Rebecca Wright (Melbourne, Australia/Moama Anglican Grammer School) who shot a 75, the lowest round of the tournament by an FDU golfer. As a team, the Knights finished 18
th with 986 total strokes on the par 72, 6,381-yard, Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
FDU carded a 327 in the final round after a 328 on the opening day and the 331 in the second round.
Wright opened the tournament with an 84, but fired a 76 on Friday and then closed with a 75 on Saturday. She birdied her sixth hole of the day and then added two more after the turn. Her 235 strokes for the tournament put her in a tie for 75
th place.
Freshman
Gabriela Santini (San Juan, Puerto Rico/San Jose) carded an 83 on Saturday to finish at 241 strokes and in 88
th place. Santini posted rounds of 78 and 80 on the first two days of competition.
Sophomore
Ariadna Castro (Barcelona, Spain/St. Peter's School) shot an 87 on Saturday and finished at 254 strokes. Junior
Karly Lux (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) carded an 82 in the final round and totaled 259 strokes. Senior
Monica Pena (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Internacional de Bogota) shot a 90 to finish at 273. Castro was 94
th in the individual standings, Lux 95
th and Pena 96
th.
South Carolina won the regional with 877 strokes. They were followed by Northwestern at 885, North Carolina State at 887, Alabama at 888, LSU at 888 and Campbell at 892. The top-six teams all qualify for the NCAA Championships.
LSU's Madelene Sagstrom shot a 208 to finish first individually. She shot 68, 70 and 70 over her three rounds.
