Emmitsburg, MD -- Members of the Mount St. Mary's University men's and women's basketball teams volunteered for the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation last Friday in Harrisburg. The Mount student-athletes helped pack toys for Camp Can Do campers.
The teams helped pack toys and gifts for 75 Camp Can Do campers, which will be delivered to the camp the week of August 3.
Camp Can Do is a summer program located at Gretna Glen Camp and Retreat Center in Mt. Gretna, Pennsylvania, which serves cancer patients and their siblings between the ages of eight and 17.
In service since 1983, Camp Can Do has provided young cancer patients and their siblings with a safe environment to establish new friendships and experience a supportive atmosphere. The camp is run by a passionate group of volunteers who include doctors, cancer survivors, and former campers. The children enjoy a week full of activities, including arts and crafts, swimming, fishing, boating, rocket and pine car building, archery, adventure challenge, biking, ceramics, outdoor cooking, music and a field day spent at Hersheypark.
