RESULTS
BATON ROUGE, LA -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's golf team totaled 321 strokes on Saturday to finish the 2016 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional in 18
th place. The Knights posted a team score of 956 strokes (322 – 313 – 321) over the tournament three rounds and 54 total holes.
Sophomore
Gabriela Santini (San Juan, Puerto Rico/San Jose) was FDU's top golfer at the regional with a score of 235, including a final round stroke total of 78. She finished in a tie for 75.
The regional was hosted by LSU and played on the school's golf course at the University Club. The course was setup to play as a par 72 over 6,285 yards.
Santini's final round 78 followed an 81 on Thursday and a 76 in Friday's second round.
Freshman
Anneke Strobach (Lima, Peru/Cambridge College) also shot a 78 on Saturday and carded a 76 on Friday. Her first round score of 82 gave her 236 total strokes, which placed her in a tie for 77
th.
Junior
Rebecca Wright (Melbourne, Australia/Moama Anglican Grammer School) fired a 79 on Saturday, matching her first round score of 79. She posted and 80 on Friday to finish tied for 80
th at 238 strokes.
Junior
Ariadna Castro (Barcelona, Spain/St. Peter's School) closed with an 86 on Saturday. She finished 94
th at 247 strokes (80 – 81 – 86). Freshman
Celeste McLean (Waverley, New Zealand/Hawera) rounded out the FDU squad with 258 strokes (82 – 86 – 90) in 96
th place.
Florida and South Carolina shared the team lead at 857 strokes, both teams advanced to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon later this month. Also advancing were Washington, Duke, Oregon and Brigham Young.
Elise Bradley of LSU, Linnea Strom of Arizona State and Leonie Harm of Houston all advanced to Eugene also as the top individuals that were not members of teams that were already advancing.
The 2016 season comes to a close for the FDU women's golf team, but it featured the program's second consecutive NEC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth. The title was the sixth in the program's history.
