FINAL RESULTS
Lubbock, TX — The Sacred Heart women's golf team closed the program's first NCAA Regional with a third-round score of 311. The Pioneers continued to improve over the course of the tournament as they bested their second-round score by 12 stokes at the Rawls course on Wednesday.
Senior Ellen Nighbor led the Pioneers scoring group, besting her round to score by one stroke at five-over par, she finished the tournament tied for 84th at 22-over par. Nighbor recorded 11 pars on the final day to go along with a birdie on the par-five second hole.
Fellow senior Stephanie Lowe had a stellar final round, picking up three birdies to finish four-over 76, she concluded the weekend 26-over par to finish 88th overall. Sophomore Chelsea Sedlar improved by one stroke in the final round as she finished six-over par to finish tied for 89th on the leaderboard at 28-over par.
Junior Abigail Hood completed the third round with a score of eight-over 81, finishing 93rd at 35-over par through the tournament. Hood picked up an eagle on the par-five second hole to go along with a birdie on the par-three sixth hole. Junior Alejandra Perez bested her second-round score by nine strokes as she carded a nine-over 81 on the final day, finishing 94th at 44-over par in the tournament.
The Pioneers finished the Regional with a three-round score of 974, improving by 10 plus strokes in both the second and third rounds. Arizona State claimed the team title with a score of 842 followed by Furman in second place at 863 and Oregon in third at 867.
The Pioneers conclude their 2016-17 season with five first place finishes, including the program's first ever Northeast Conference title.
