Smallcomb compiled 50 digs, 13 assists and four service aces to help Sacred Heart improve on its first-place status with back-to-back wins over LIU and St. Francis Brooklyn. A graduate libero, she stuck a season-best 30 digs on Friday to pace the Pios’ defense in a five-set win against the Sharks. She went on to add 20 digs in a straight-set sweep of the Terriers. On the weekend, the Westborough, MA native averaged 6.25 digs and 0.50 service aces per set to extend Sacred Heart’s winning streak to nine games. This is her third NEC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
