Deptula put together some of the most impressive defensive numbers in the conference to date this season in Saint Francis U’s big 2-0 weekend. With the victories, Saint Francis U locked up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NEC Women’s Volleyball Championship with a 10-4 record. The sophomore tallied 14 blocks and averaged of 2.00 per set during that stretch. In addition, Deptula was a force offensively, delivering 2.14 kills per set behind a sizzling .650 hitting percentage. The Boca Raton, FL native got her weekend going strong with a five-block, five-kill effort in a sweep of Central Connecticut on Friday. She was even more sensational on Saturday, coming just shy of an unconventional double-double after putting down 10 kills and nine blocks, the most by an NEC player in a four-set match this season, against first-place Sacred Heart. In that triumph, Deptula hit .750 with just one error in her 12 attempts. In conference play, the middle hitter finished ninth in the league in hitting percentage (.288), eighth in service aces (0.35 per set) and seventh in blocks (0.88 per set). This is Deptula’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor.
