Renninger continues to turn heads in her debut campaign in Hackensack. The NEC’s top-scoring freshman strung together a pair of double-figure scoring games this past week to help FDU remain undefeated in conference play. In wins against Central Connecticut and Chicago State, Renninger averaged a team-leading 16.0 points while adding 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 thefts per contest. The Keystone State product got her week off to a strong start, netting 17 points on 41.2 percent shooting (7-of-17) on Saturday against Central Connecticut. Renninger was one of four FDU starters to put up double figures for the Knights in the convincing 75-58 win over the Blue Devils, who were picked to finish second in the NEC preseason poll. Two days later, the 5-foot-6 guard helped FDU get past Chicago State in a tightly contested inaugural battle between the two squads. Leading the way with 15 points, Renninger, who fueled a pivotal 9-0 run out of the halftime break with back-to-back buckets, followed a key a layup with 2:34 left with two free throws in the final seconds to hold off the Cougars. Averaging 13.4 points per contest, Renninger, who is shooting the rock at a 39.3 percent clip this season, is ranked fifth overall in the conference in scoring.
