Entering last week with five 20-plus point games this season, Kuhns became the league’s leader in the category after she put up monstrous numbers in back-to-back outings. The Mercyhurst forward continued her torrid scoring spree by averaging 28.5 points per game on 50.0 percent shooting from the field (18-of-36) and a 79.2 percent clip from the charity stripe (19-of-25). In addition, Kuhns took care of business on the glass, averaging 8.0 rebounds per contest. The Mount Pleasant, PA native was sensational in Saturday’s defeat to Wagner as she led all scorers with 29 points behind an 11-of-14 effort from the stripe. She went on to extend her league-leading double-figure scoring streak to 17 straight games on Monday after she delivered 28 points on sizzling 64.3 percent shooting from the field (9-of-14) to propel the Lakers past LIU for their second conference triumph of the season. Nineteen of the junior forward’s game-high point total came in the second half — including her 900th career point — as she helped Mercyhurst go up by as many as 29 to lead the program to its largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent (27 points). In addition to the high-scoring affair, Kuhns led all players with 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Averaging 20.5 points per game, Kuhns ranks 22nd in the nation in scoring.
