Renninger made her case for NEC Rookie of the Year even stronger after her performance on Saturday. Riding the coattails of what was a career day for the first-year guard from the Keystone State, FDU put together a dominant 75-45 home win over Mercyhurst to remain perfect in NEC play with a 7-0 mark. Renninger came out of the gates hot against the Lakers. Draining five of her first seven shots from the field — including her lone three-point attempt — she racked up 11 first-quarter points to put the Knights in front through one stanza. She went on to sink five of her next seven three-point attempts to lead all scorers with 28 points, which topped her previous personal-best outing by eight points, after shooting 58.8 percent from the field (10-of-17) and a sizzling 75.0 percent from downtown (6-of-8). The NEC’s top scoring rookie at 14.2 points per game has now earned NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office Rookie of the Week honors a league-best seven times, including two times during conference play.
