Cipalla had a hot bat in her collegiate debut at the Gamecock Invitational. The rookie catcher/outfielder went 5-for-10 at the plate and registered at least one hit in her first three games against Toledo, East Carolina and South Carolina. Earning the start as the designated player in her first-ever college game against the Rockets on Friday, Cipalla, who hails from Erie, PA, launched a double in her first career at-bat in the second inning. That hit also marked the first of Saint Francis U’s young season. She went on to finish that outing a perfect 2-for-2 in the batter’s box. The next day against the Pirates, Cipalla made it doubles in back-to-back games after she went 2-for-3. Cipalla currently ranks second in the NEC in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and OPS.
