Jones picked up his third NEC Player of the Week honor this season, extending CCSU’s run of individual weekly honors to four. The Florence, SC native was instrumental in a pair of double-digit home wins over Mercyhurst (73-63) and Saint Francis U (83-67) that pushed the first place Blue Devils’ win streak to eight and improved them to 10-2 in NEC play. The senior guard averaged 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists, and shot 64.0 percent from the field, 66.7 percent from outside the arc and 83.3 percent at the stripe. He posted efficient back-to-back game-high scoring efforts, netting 19 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 3P) against Mercyhurst and 24 points (9-14 FG, 3-4 3P) vs. SFU, just two shy of his season-high. Jones also dished out eight assists against the Lakers, his career-high against a DI opponent. Jones ranks fourth in the NEC in scoring (14.0) and assists (3.5), while also sitting in the top-10 in steals (1.6) and free throw percentage (.783). Jones (three) and teammate Devin Haid (league-high five) have combined to win eight NEC Player of the Week accolades on the season.
