Culver delivered another monstrous week for Chicago State. Leading the Cougars in scoring in each of her team’s games against Central Connecticut and Wagner, the first-year guard averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals behind 40.7 percent shooting from the field (11-of-27), including a 62.5 percent clip from long range (5-of-8). The Queens native manufactured her first career double-double on Thursday after she recorded 15 points and a personal-best 10 rebounds in a heartbreaking 62-61 defeat to the Blue Devils. On Saturday against the Seahawks, she knocked down a pair of three-pointers and went 5-of-10 from the field to finish with a team-leading 17 points. Culver, who has notched double figures in scoring in 14 of her last 15 games, ranks sixth in the conference in scoring at 14.3 points per game. That mark is tied with FDU guard Ava Renninger for the best scoring average by a league rookie this season. Against conference opponents, that number has been bumped to 16.4 points per game, which is first among NEC rookies and fourth overall. In addition, Culver ranks among the NEC’s top-10 in field goal percentage (9th - .343), three-point field goals per game (4th – 1.9), assists per game (3rd – 3.2), assist-to-turnover ratio (3rd – 1.3) and steals per game (5th - 1.6). This is her fourth NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office Rookie of the Week award.
