For the second time this season, Culver ran it back as the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office Rookie of the Week. The Queens product put up big numbers across the board to help Chicago State string together back-to-back wins for the first time this season. During that stretch, which featured victories against Mercyhurst and Saint Francis U, Culver averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals. In the Cougars’ first game of the week, a wire-to-wire 77-63 triumph over the Lakers, the guard dropped 16 points, five assists and a career-high six steals on Thursday. She followed that effort with a 17-point performance against the Red Flash that included the go-ahead triple with 1:42 remaining in overtime on Saturday. Culver has been dominant against NEC competitors this season, registering twin figures in scoring in all but one game, including each of her past eight outings. She enters the final game of the regular season tied for fourth in the league with FDU rookie Ava Renninger in scoring with 14.4 points per contest, while her 16.4 points per contest in conference play are good for fourth overall and first among NEC rookies. With this week’s honor, Culver pushed her weekly award count to five, which ranks second in the league behind Renninger’s eight honors.
