A powerful bat and some timely hitting made Zielinski the second Red Flash player this season to repeat as the NEC Rookie of the Week. Previously earning the honor on March 4, the Arizona native joins fellow classmate Addie Smith as the only two rookies this year to garner the honor multiple times. In addition, with Zielinski’s honor today, Saint Francis U has claimed five of seven NEC Rookie of the Week awards this season. Zielinski belted out a trio of extra-base hits, two of which came in the Red Flash’s three-game sweep of Le Moyne. During the stretch of recent NEC victories, which extended Saint Francis U’s winning streak against conference competitors to 33-straight games, she drove in seven runs and scored two more. The highlight of Zielinski’s week came in the nightcap of Friday’s doubleheader. With her team facing a 14-11 deficit in the bottom half of the seventh, the utility player slammed a grand slam to propel Saint Francis U to the 15-14 walk-off win. Zielinsky, who also doubled and registered a pair of RBI singles in the series opener with the Dolphins, a 3-2 win, homered in the first of two games of the week against non-conference opponent Robert Morris.
