Codianni’s standout play on the defensive end of the field led FDU to a commanding 13-7 win over Le Moyne on Wednesday. The sophomore midfielder stuffed the stat sheet with five ground balls, four caused turnovers and three draw controls to help the Knights go back-to-back in the win column for the first time this season. In addition, Codianni contributed three goals, including the go-ahead goal that sparked a pivotal 5-0 run in the third quarter, for her second-straight hat trick. Later in the week, the Long Beach, NY native registered one caused turnover, three draw controls and a ground ball in a defeat at Wagner on Saturday. Leading the NEC with 19 caused turnovers while ranking second in the circuit with 1.73 caused turnovers per contest, Codianni is fourth among fellow Knights in goals (14), second in draw controls (28) and second in ground balls (21). This is her first NEC Defensive Player of the Week award, and the second for a FDU player this season.
