Swan made FDU history on Saturday when she tossed the third no-hitter in program annals in her first start of the weekend on Friday against Central Connecticut. The veteran hurler was near perfect in that game as just three Blue Devils reached base on a lead-off walk in the seventh frame and a pair of fielding miscues in the top of the fifth and the seventh innings. Swan put Central Connecticut’s lineup on lockdown in the opening part of the game. She retired the first 14 batters she faced on the afternoon and had eight of her game-leading 10 strikeouts during that stretch. Getting in a jam in the seventh inning with two runners on and no outs, she induced a pop up and consecutive ground outs to close out the historic day and seal the 3-0 victory. In the third and final game of the series, a 1-0 defeat, Swan allowed just one hit over the final 1.2 frames. Finishing with 11 strikeouts in her two appearances, the Whippany, NJ native posted a 0.00 ERA and held the Blue Devils to a .034 average at the plate. Swan, who received NEC Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time this season, is the second FDU hurler to earn the accolade, joining three-time winner Brooklyn Shroyer (Feb. 25, March 4, March 25). She leads the NEC with a 1.92 ERA, 10 complete games, nine wins and .209 opposing batting average, while her three shutouts and 90 strikeouts are good for second and third in the circuit, respectively.
