The conference’s top scorer cruised to her league-leading fourth NEC Player of the Week award of the season. A native of Honeoye Falls, Easton continues to impress in her Division I and NEC debut. The junior attacker had a hand in 15 of the Lakers’ 23 goals this past week to lead her team to wins over Le Moyne on Wednesday and FDU on Saturday. With the back-to-back victories, Mercyhurst improved to 5-2 against NEC competitors this season. In addition to her seven goals and eight dimes, Easton racked up four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. On Wednesday against the Dolphins, she tickled the twine three times and added six assists to lead all scorers with nine points in the 12-10 win. In the fourth quarter, she assisted on each of the Lakers’ five goals — including three-straight scores to begin the stanza — to help her team claw back from a 9-7 deficit and seal the win. Easton was just as explosive on Saturday against FDU. She scored four times — including twice in the first quarter — and had two assists for Mercyhurst, which held off the Knights to come away with an 11-10 triumph. Leading the NEC with 49 goals, 3.77 goals per game, 30 assists and 2.31 assists per game, Easton, who has netted a hat trick in all but one of her 12 games this season, paces the circuit in points by a wide margin. Averaging 6.08 points per contest, her 79 total points are 40 more than the next closest competitor. Ranking 16th in the nation in goals per game, she is fifth among all NCAA Division I student-athletes in points per contest.
