Benamati posted a 2.000 OPS in three games against first-place LIU after calculating a .545 on-base percentage and a 1.455 slugging percentage. Launching three home runs and a double during that stretch, the Ballston Lake, NY native went 6-for-11 at the plate for a .545 batting average. In addition, Benamati racked up nine RBI and four runs. The first-year infielder got the Dolphins’ weekend going with a bang in Saturday’s series opener. Blasting a first-inning grand slam to open the scoring, she put Le Moyne ahead by a 7-0 count with an RBI in the bottom of the second before she made it a 10-3 lead with another homer, this time a two-run shot in the fourth. Behind her explosive bat, the Dolphins knocked off the Sharks by way of an 11-7 final. Benamati’s offense continued in Sunday’s doubleheader. Going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run to begin the day, she launched a solo shot in the nightcap. Benamati leads Le Moyne in a plethora of categories, including batting average (.333), slugging percentage (.678), OPS (1.092), RBI (25) and home runs (8). She is fourth in the league in homers and slugging percentage. With her first career NEC Rookie of the Week award, Le Moyne has had two honorees this season, as Neveah Ross took home the distinction on March 11.
