Chichkina went 2-0 in singles play last week on her way to her sixth NEC Rookie of the Week selection. Playing from the second flight, the freshman won both her matches in straight sets against FDU’s Anastasia Lim (6-3, 6-3) and Mercyhurst’s Daria Rogova (6-3, 6-4). Teaming up with Diana Zuba, the duo took down the Lakers’ No. 1 doubles squad, 6-3. After dropping a 4-3 decision to the Knights, SFU won its season finale over Mercyhurst, 4-0. Chichkina wrapped the regular season with a 22-8 singles record along with a 6-1 league mark. Chichkina and Zuba paired up for 18 doubles victories. The Red Flash are the No. 2 seed in this weekend’s NEC Women’s Tennis Championship and will face off with No. 7 Binghamton in Thursday’s quarterfinals.
