Coughlin held a hungry Le Moyne team at bay on Saturday, and thanks to her clutch play between the pipes, Saint Francis U earned a spot in the NEC Tournament for the third-straight season with a 13-10 victory. The veteran netminder posted a .524 save percentage after she turned away 11 shots for the Red Flash, including seven in the final 38 minutes, to help her team close out the game with a commanding 11-4 run. Prior to the rally, which included six-consecutive goals to start the fourth quarter, Saint Francis U faced a 6-2 deficit with 8:19 to go in the second stanza. Closing out the league slate with a 5-4 mark, the Red Flash enter the postseason as the No. 4 seed. With the double-digit save effort, her sixth of the season, Coughlin leads the NEC in saves (141) and saves per game (8.81). In addition, her .458 save percentage and 10.42 GAA are both second-best in the circuit. She has been even more impressive against conference competitors this season, holding them to 8.30 goals per contest, which is good for the third-best GAA in the league. This is Coughlin’s first NEC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season. She joins two-time recipient Elizabeth Garcia in earning the distinction for the Red Flash.
