Johnson was all over the field in LIU’s home opener, a heartbreaking 24-21 defeat to Sacred Heart that was decided on a field goal as time expired. The first-year defensive lineman racked up eight tackles, including six solo stops, while adding 4.0 tackles-for-loss, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble. A native of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Johnson pushed Sacred Heart’s offense back 29 yards with his 4.0 tackles-for-loss, which are the most by an NEC player this season and the second-most by a defensive player in the nation this season. He is the first Shark to garner NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office Rookie of the Week distinction this season.
