Loretto, PA -- The Saint Francis men’s track and field team earned All-Academic team honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
"The academic achievement from both the men’s and the women’s Track & Field teams show that our student-athletes have the ability to focus on details,” head men’s track and field coach Gordon Thomson said. “In addition, John Krimmel has done a wonderful job as director of Student-Athlete Development."
The USTFCCCA announced a total of 90 institutions earned the distinction of All-Academic team as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better. Saint Francis ranked as one of only four teams in the Northeast Conference to receive the honor. The Red Flash posted the top team GPA in the league with a team mark of 3.24.
Saint Francis ranked as just one of 23 teams nationally to post a team GPA over 3.22, ranking the Red Flash in the top 26-percent of teams selected. Richmond posted the top GPA in the nation with a mark of 3.51. BYU earned the Indoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year and Florida State the Outdoor team honor as the teams with a team GPA over 3.00 with the highest finish at the indoor and outdoor national championships.
