Saint Louis, MO -- The LIU men's soccer 2021 season came to a close on the road Sunday, as the Sharks fell to #10 seed Saint Louis in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, 5-1.
SHARK BITES
- The Billikens remain the only undefeated team in NCAA men's soccer with their win over LIU.
- The home team got on the board early, scoring a goal in the third minute of play. Saint Louis took a 2-0 lead with a goal in the 15th minute, and went up 3-0 with another goal in the 20th minute.
- The Sharks got on the board in the 22nd minute, when freshman Robert Winkler scored on a free kick to make it 3-1.
- Saint Louis added two more goals in the second half, to widen the lead to 5-1.
- The Sharks played man down for much of the second half due to a red card.
- Goalie Demetri Skoumbakis made three saves in 90 minutes of action.
- With the loss in the NCAA Tournament, LIU finishes the season with a 12-5-4 overall record
