New Britain, CT -- CCSU women's soccer did what it does best...collect NEC Championship trophies on its home turf.
The top-seeded Blue Devils secured the four-peat in New Britain on Sunday, downing second-seeded FDU, 3-0, to head to the NCAA College Cup later this week.
It marked the 12th overall tournament victory for CCSU, eight more than any other program in league annals.
CCSU junior midfielder Zoe McGlynn, who scored her first career goal, was tabbed NEC Tournament MVP.
Fighting for an NCAA bid, FDU (10-7-4) and Central Connecticut (13-5) were scoreless in the early stages until a 2x All-American struck for CCSU.
Roma McLaughlin, the three-time NEC Midfielder of the Year, scored the first goal of the game by connecting on a PK 15 minutes into the first half. The penalty was called after redshirt freshman Kristina Kelly was taken down inside the box by FDU's Paula Ruess, the defender from Alfalterbach, Germany. Calm and collected, McLaughlin was able to put the ball low and left into the back of the net. She also converted a PK in Friday's win over Bryant, which proved to be the lone goal of the match.
The Blue Devils were presented with another goal scoring opportunity when Jamie Collimore made her way upfield just before halftime. The junior added to CCSU's lead in the 42nd minute by placing a 20-yard shot in the corner netting.
Controlling possession, Central Connecticut came back after the first half looking for insurance.
In the 64th minute, they found it.
McLaughlin slotted a ball to a cutting Zoë McGlynn in the box, who was able to capitalize far post, recording her first goal of the year.
Last season's NEC Goalkeeper of the Year, Amanda McQuillin, fended off four shots to post her ninth shutout of the season.
FDU's Malene Nielsen, the 2021 NEC Goalkepper of the Year, turned away eight CCSU shots.
CCSU finished the match with a 20-6 shot advantage.
The top-seeded Blue Devils head into the postseason with a 13-5 overall record after posting an 8-2 conference mark.
CCSU will find out its NCAA College Cup opponent on Monday at 4:30 pm during the NCAA Selection Show on NCAA.com.
