Wagner's Trausti Thorsteins Competes At NCAA Cross Country Championships

Stillwater, OK -- Trausti Thorsteins of the Wagner men's cross country team competed against the top runners in the nation at the NCAA Cross Country Championships Monday at the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Cross Country Course.
 
Thorsteins finished 182nd out of 237 total participants, as he completed the 10-kilometer in 32:35.6.
 

 
The third-year Seahawk harrier reached the national championship for the first time in his career after finishing first at the 2020-21 Northeast Conference (NEC) Cross Country Championships and earned a berth as the automatic qualifier.
 
He claimed his second NEC Most Outstanding Performer award after finishing the championship meet with a time of 24:28.7.
 
Thorsteins, a three-time All-NEC selection, is the program's first-ever cross country runner to qualify for nationals.
 
He will rejoin his teammates as they begin preparation for the outdoor season, which is set to begin on Sunday, March 21 at the Lehigh Tri-Meet.
