Somerset, NJ -- The Northeast Conference (NEC) has revealed its 2022-23 men's and women's basketball conference schedules.

Schedule Notes
  • Both the men and women will play 16-game double round-robin schedules with the men's conference season tipping off on Thursday, December 29 and the women on Monday, January 2
  • Each team will have two bye dates
  • The men's and women's schedules will mirror each other for the most part
  • The men will complete their regular season schedule on Saturday, February 25, while the women wrap on Thursday, March 2.
  • Seven of the nine weeks for the men will be contested with a Thursday/Saturday format. Games will be played Saturday/Monday to coincide with Martin Luther King Day on January 14/16) and on a Friday/Sunday schedule the following week on January 20/22.
  • The women will also play a Thursday/Saturday schedule aside from a Friday/Sunday swing on January 6/8 and the same Saturday/Monday schedule as the men around MLK Day on January 14/16. There are also a pair of single-game weeks on the slate (January 2 and March 2).
  • Game times are to be determined and dates may be moved to accommodate TV.
  • The 2022-23 NEC television slate will be announced in October.
  • The NEC Basketball Championship will return to an eight-team playoff format with all games played at the home of the higher seed. After the quarterfinals, advancing teams will be reseeded so the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals.
  • The 2023 NEC Men's Basketball Championship will take place on March 1, 4 & 7 at campus sites.
  • The 2023 NEC Women's Basketball Championship will take place on March 6, 9 & 12 at campus sites.
  • Reclassifying institutions will be permitted to participate in the NEC postseason championships in years three and four of the four-year reclassification process. With the new policy in place, Merrimack becomes postseason eligible in this season and Stonehill in 2024-25. If a reclassifying institution wins the NEC Tournament championship, the tournament runner-up will advance to the NCAA Tournament as the NEC’s automatic qualifier.
