FDU's Mane Shines in Albuquerque, Earns First Team All-American Spot After Second-Place Finish

3/12/2023

Albuquerque, NM - FDU men's track and field senior and Northeast Conference (NEC) triple jump champion Salif Mane continued to shine in the pit, as the Knight finish second at the 2022-23 NCAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships in his second-straight trip to nationals.

The Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Field Performer (Jumps) of the 2023 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championship earned First Team All-American status after unleashing a jump of 16.79 meters. In the process, he broke  his personal best and program record on the banks of the Hackensack.

This is Mane's second All-America accolade. Last season, he finished seventh at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex to earn first team honors.

Arkansas' Jaydon Hibbert took the top prize, while Owayne Owens of Virignia rounded out the top-three finishers on the podium.

Mane was the only mid-major triple jumper to finish in the top 10 among the nation's best, as nine of the 10 top performers were from the likes of the ACC, Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 conferences.

Continuing a string of remarkable performances under the tutelage of jumps coach Leroy Solomon, Mane has not ceased to amaze this season. The Bronx, NY product cruised to four medals - three gold and one silver - at the NEC meet last month.
