NEC WOMEN’S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Julia Trainor, LIU
Midfielder, Junior, Billerica, MA/Billerica Memorial
Last Week’s Stats: 3 goals, 10 shots, 1 ground ball, 3 draw controls
Trainor became the first NEC player to deliver a hat trick this season when she found the back of the net three times in LIU’s season debut at Hofstra on Saturday. The Billerica, MA native, who accounted for half of her team’s scoring, added one ground ball and three draw controls. Trainor struck twice in the opening half for LIU, which was deadlocked at the half at three goals apiece with its Empire State foe. Just 32 seconds into the third quarter, she found the back of the net to give the Sharks their first lead of the contest with her final score of the game. It marked the seventh hat trick of the junior midfielder’s career. With the weekly honor, the two-time All-NEC First Team member has earned five weekly awards from the league, as she was a four-time Rookie of the Week honoree in 2023.
