About the Northeast Conference SAAC
The Northeast Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (NEC SAAC) consists of 20 members - comprised of two varsity athletes from each conference institution - who give voice to the student-athlete perspective on a regional and national level. The committee provides a medium for its members to develop leadership skills, promote community service and enhance the overall student-athlete experience.
Statement of Purpose
To provide the Northeast Conference with a medium through which its student-athletes’ voices be heard on the regional and national level and to provide Northeast Conference student-athletes a voice in the Conference’s decisions. To provide Northeast Conference student-athletes a medium in which to develop leadership skills and to enhance their academic and athletic experiences. The committee will also provide student-athletes with the opportunity to interact in a diverse group and to foster a positive image of student-athletes.

NEC SAAC: Embracing the Community
The Northeast Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) came together at NEC Headquarters in Somerset, NJ this past November for their annual two-day meeting. Amidst the sharing of best practices, the group of student-athletes welcomed the NCAA’s Susan Peal for an engaging discussion about the NCAA, SAAC and legislation that affects student-athlete welfare. The group also spent time volunteering at Bonnie Brae, a nationally recognized school and residential treatment center which serves as a safe haven for at-risk boys to heal, learn and grow.
The meeting attendees (pictured above) formally donated $12,000, which they had raised
during last year’s Money War competition, to the Children’s Cancer Recovery Foundation in order
to support the ‘Bearable Gifts’ campaign.
Through community service, the group formed a relationship with nearby Bonnie Brae,
which is a residential school that offers comprehensive care and education for boys
and young men in crisis.
The NEC SAAC welcomed the NCAA’s own Susan Peal for an engaging discussion
about SAAC, the NCAA, and legislation.
