Bryant: The Bulldogs had a solid showing at the Dartmouth Invitational over the weekend. Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, MA/Barnstable) won the 50 free and 100 back and finished second in the 200 back. Taylor DeBever (Denver, CO/Regis Jesuit) earned a trio of top-10 finishes, touching the wall third in the 100 free and seventh in the 50 free. She was also eighth in the 100 back. Bryant also received top-10 finishes from Brianne Dwyer (Hicksville, NY/St. Anthony’s), Molly Smith (Belmont, MA/Belmont), Ashley Atherton (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), Abby Whittaker (Salisbury, MA/Saint Thomas Aquinas)and Samantha Hilton (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Ludlowe). The Bulldogs close out their season this Saturday, Feb. 4, when they host Holy Cross at the Chace Athletic Center. They will honor their eight seniors prior to the meet.
 
 
Central Connecticut: The Blue Devils bested NEC rival Wagner this past weekend 184.5-113.5, claiming victories in 13 of 16 events. Sophomore Helene Neuhaus (Westport, CT/Staples) swam well recording her fourth consecutive first place finish in the 50 free (25.13), while also picking up a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle recording a time of 54.38. On the boards Madison Vestergaard (Middletown, CT/Middletown) swept both events en-route to becoming NEC Diver of the Week.  
 
Mount St. Mary’s:  Mount St. Mary’s will return to action on February 4 when they host Loyola at 11 a.m. 
 
Sacred Heart: This past weekend’s victory over Western Connecticut marks the second meet that SHU has won this season. The Pioneers took first and second in the 200 yard Free Relay (1:49.36 and 1:55.36). SHU also finished first in the 400 yard Medley Relay finishing in 4:12.59. Individually freshman Malvina Reinhold (Hothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasium) placed first in the 100 free (58.82) and 200 free (2:00.92).
 
St. Francis (NY): The Terriers bested Queens College 118-82.
 
Saint Francis (PA):  The Red Flash cruised to a 175-78 win over Siena last Saturday, winning the first 13 events and swimming to three pool records. The 400 medley team made of Katrina Wilhite (Sparks, NV/Edward C. Reed), Elise Lofgren (Molnlycke, Sweden/Hulebacks), Libby Francis (Dudnee, Scotland/Grove Academy) and Alicia Ford (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) combined to swim a 4:00.96 which bested the previous record by over two seconds.  Lofgren also posted an individual pool record in the 200 breastroke with a time of 2:23.34. Jessica Dunn (Bristow, VA/Seton School) also notched a facility mark in the 200 backstroke with a 2:08.66.
 
Wagner: The Wagner College swimming & diving team dropped its first Northeast Conference (NEC) meet of the season today, falling to Central Connecticut State, 184.5 – 113.5 over the weekend. The loss marks the first NEC defeat Wagner has faced since January 29, 2011, when the Blue Devils knocked off the Green & White in New Britian, CT. After being held from the top spot in the opening two events, sophomore Meredith Ketchmark (Plainsboro, NJ / West Windsor-Plainsboro) got the Seahawks their first gold, taking the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.53. Freshman Lynn Tay (Elk Grove, CA / Bradshaw Christian) and sophomore Sarah Menendez (Land O'Lakes, FL / Wharton) earned second and third place points, respectively, in the 50 yard freestyle sprint, with the first year missing out on the top spot by .31 seconds. Menendez was just .03 seconds back, as she tied CCSU’s Alex Czaplicki to split the third place points. Following the meet, head coach Colin Shannahan and the rest of the Seahawks squad honored seniors, Mary Courtney Ryan (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph Hill Academy), Patricia Gavin (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Tech), Jakki Guenther (South Hadley, MA/South Hadley), Lauren Meyer (Hamden, CT/Hamden) and Breanne Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy), who competed in their final home swim meet of their illustrious collegiate careers.
