Sarah Boissonneault was named Assistant Commissioner for Communications & Digital Media Strategy in February, 2022
In her role Boissonneault develops, oversees and executes the conference’s social media and digital media initiatives across all platforms in a manner that supports the NEC’s Strategic Plan. She serves as the NEC's primary PR contact for football, women's basketball, women's soccer, women's lacrosse, softball, and track and field, and handles media coordinator duties at various NEC Championships.
Boissonneault came to the NEC after spending the last 14 years as a communications and media relations professional at the University of Hartford. She was hired in 2008 as the Assistant Director for Athletic Communications and held that role for ten years prior to her promotion to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications in 2018.
In her role at Hartford, Boissonneault managed a five-person communications team and led the publicity efforts for Hartford's 17-sport NCAA DI athletic program. She served as primary contact for men’s basketball, women's basketball, women’s soccer, men’s lacrosse, women's lacrosse and men's golf.
Boissonneault crafted new strategies for social media and website engagement, and was instrumental in expanding regional and national coverage of the men's basketball program in its 2021 run to the America East title and subsequent appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
She oversaw the production of all home events via Hartford's online streaming platforms, including ESPN3, ESPN+ and America East TV. Boissonneault also served as the department's lead graphic designed for communications and marketing related materials.
A 2006 magna cum laude graduate of Elmira College, Boissonneault received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. A four-year member of the basketball team and two-year team captain, she was named to the Empire 8 All-Conference second team and was tabbed the Elmira Female Athlete of the Year as a senior.
During her time as an undergraduate at Elmira, Boissonneault served as a sports information student assistant, handling a variety of different roles in promoting the Soaring Eagles' DIII athletic program.
