NEC MEN’S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mastrangelo scored a pair of goals in two wins for the Red Flash. The sophomore scored what proved to be the game-winner in SFU’s 3-1 win over Big Ten opponent Penn State on a header off a corner kick in the 38th minute. The Venetia, PA native followed up with a goal in a 1-0 win over Niagara on Sunday that extended the Red Flash's win streak to three matches. Off a feed from his twin brother Mario, Mastrangelo put home the header for the game’s only goal in the 30th minute.
NEC MEN’S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Koss scored the first goal of his collegiate career in LIU Brooklyn’s 1-1 tie against Howard on Sunday. The freshman found the back of the net in the 81st minute off a corner kick from reigning NEC Rookie of the Year Rasmus Hansen.

In the September 6 NSCAA Division I Men Poll, defending NEC champion LIU Brooklyn was ranked ninth in the northeast region.
Saint Francis U defeated Big Ten member Penn State, who was receiving votes in the latest NCAA rankings, 3-1 on Friday, making it the first home non-conference loss for the Nittany Lions since the 2014 season.
Fairleigh Dickinson’s Envar Caymaz (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) led the Knights past MAAC opponent Iona on Saturday, scoring a goal and adding an assist in the 2-1 victory.
