NEC CO-SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK 
Karilyn Quon, Saint Francis U
So., Temple, AZ/Corona Del Sol

Quon delivered an impressive showing at the New England Catholic Invitational, winning three individual events in a meet that also featured Boston College, Providence, Holy Cross and Fairfield. Her 5:09.24 finish in the 500 free was almost four seconds better than any other time turned in by an NEC swimmer so far this fall. She was first to touch the wall in the 200 free (1:56.85) and in the 200 backstroke (2:08.30), both of which represented top-five marks in the NEC. Quon, a Temple, AZ product, also helped lead a pair of Red Flash relay teams to runner-up finishes in the 200 and 400 free events. 

Lauren  Somers, Sacred Heart
So., Hudson, NH/Alvirne

Somers is off to an impressive start to her sophomore campaign, and is coming off a strong weekend with three runner-up finishes in a tri-meet against CCSU and St. Bonaventure. The Hudson, NH native touched the wall at 1:53.59 in the 200 free, which was over three seconds quicker than any other NEC competitor this season. Her time of 52.52 in the 100 free was also an NEC season-best. Somers also turned in a top-five NEC performance by clocking in at 24.66 in the 50 free.  
NEC DIVER OF THE WEEK
Kelci Abernethy, Bryant
Jr., Chandler, AZ/Perry

The well accomplished junior diver from Chandler, AZ continued her solid start to the 2017-18 season by taking home her second straight NEC weekly award. Abernethy posted a 259.88 score in the 3-meter dive to finish first in a dual meet against Bucknell. She also finished second in the 1-meter dive.

NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jessica Rupp, Saint Francis U
Fr., Cincinnati, OH/Turpin

Rupp, who hails from Cincinnati, finished with three top-six performances at the New England Catholic Invitational over the weekend with two of her times ranking her among the top-five on the list of best NEC performances this season. Rupp finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:11.91), and her fourth place showing in the 100 butterfly (1:00.25) was the fifth-best mark in the conference this season. She also took sixth in the 200 butterfly (2:12.20), the fourth-best time on the league circuit. The meet also featured Boston College, Providence, Fairfield and Holy Cross among others. 

NEC PRIME PERFORMERS

Mount sophomore Maggie deTar (Post Falls, ID/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy) posted three individual victories and two relay wins in a meet against Monmouth and Saint Peter’s over the weekend. 
 
Saint Francis U senior Katie Lafferty (Bremen, IN/Bremen) won three individual events at the New England Catholic Invitational over the weekend. She touched the wall first in the 50 free (24.21), 100 free  (53.02), and 100 backstroke (59.01).
 
Central Connecticut sophomore Valentina Gomez (Harrisonburg, VA/Hudson Catholic) finished first in the 500 free (5:12.86), 1000 free (10:42.34) and 200 fly (2:06.43) at a tri-meet with Sacred Heart and St. Bonaventure.
