NEC MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Rafael Mahario, Sacred Heart
Jr., Sprints/Jumps, Meriden, CT/Holy Cross H.S.
Mahario sprinted off to a strong start this season at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational. He finished first in the 400 meters in 48.20 and took second in the 200 meters with a 22.12 mark in the 200 meters. The junior leads the NEC in both events and has surpassed the IC4A qualifying time for both as well. His 400-meter time ranks fourth in DI while his 200-meter mark sits at 31st. 

NEC MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ryan Lane, Wagner
Sr., Jumps, Rochester, NH/Spaulding
At the Fast Track Season Opener, Lane broke the Wagner program record in the long jump by .08 meters. The senior jumped 7.23m to finish second among 46 participants in the event. His distance rank first among all jumpers in the league and is tied for 14th in the country. The Rochester, NH native also registered a 4.15m in the pole vault, which is third in the NEC.

NEC MEN’S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jack Mason, Wagner
Fr., Sprints/Jumps
In his first collegiate meet, Mason finished third in the long jump at the Fast Track Season Opener, with a 7.22m leap that ranks second in the conference. His distance ranks 16th among all DI jumper. Mason also placed eighth in the 200 meters, clocking in at 22.58, which is third in the league. 

NEC WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ruth-Ann Chambers, Wagner
Jr., Sprints/Hurdles, Kingston, Jamaica/St. Andrew High School for Girls
Chambers kicked off the indoor season with first place finishes in the 60 meters and 200 meters at the Fast Track Season Opener. Her 7.72 second 60m time beat 30 other competitiors while her 25.23 in the 200m bested the other 63 sprinters. She leads in the NEC in both events while also ranking 36th nationally in the 200m.

NEC WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Marie-Therese Cooper, Saint Francis U
Gr., Jumps, Sam Boucad, Santa Cruz, San Juan-Laventille, Trinidad and Tobago/Saint Joseph's Academy
At the Bison Opener, Cooper uncorked a league-best 11.86 meter triple jump that also ranks her 21st nationally. She added a personal-best in the long jump with a mark of 5.20m, which is currently fourth-best in the conference. 

NEC WOMEN’S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Sydney Rush, Saint Francis U
Fr., Sprints/Jumps, Monaco, Somerset, PA/Somerset
Rush earned the first NEC Rookie of the Week honor of the 2023-24 season after she turned in a top-10 finish at the Bison Opener. In posting the fourth-fastest time in the NEC this season in the 60m (7.80), the Keystone State native went on to take seventh in the event. Her 60m time made her an ECAC Championship automatic qualifier. Rush also finished 13th in the long jump with a 5.11m mark. 


NEC MEN'S PRIME PERFORMERS

Ahmed Brown, FDU (Sr.)
Brown placed first in the shot put at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational with a throw of 14.89m. He also added a personal-best toss 13.07m in the weight throw, which was a fourth place finish at the meet. He ranks first in the NEC for the shot put. 

Myles Taylor, FDU (Fr.)
Taylor finished in first in the triple jump with a distance of 13.58m at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational. He leads the league in the event.

NEC Men's Track Athlete of the Week

David Niang, SFU (Sr.)
At the Bison Opener, Niang won the 60-meter hurdles with a conference-best time of 7.97. His time makes him an automatic qualifier of the IC4A Championship. His 60-meter hurdles mark ranks 17th nationally. 

Reilly Johnston, STO (5th Year)
Johnston placed in third in the 3000 meters at the Alden Invitational hosted by Brown University, finishing in 8:38.55, which is a league-best by five seconds. 

Solomon King, STO (Sr.)
King set two personal-bests at the Alden Invitational over the weekend in both the 60-meter dash and the 300 meters. The senior posted a 60-meter time of 6.81 and a 300-meter mark of 34.36, which were both first place finishes at the meet. King's 60-meter time ranks 17th among all DI sprinters. 

Brendan Wilder, STO (Fr.)
At the Alden Invitational over the weekend, Wilder made his collegiate debut on the track with a third place finish in the mile with an NEC-best time of 4:22.50. 

Anthony Bentivegna, WC (Sr.)
Bentivegna won the 5000 meters at the Fast Track Season Opener on Friday, crossing the tape in 14:46.51. His mark ranks first in the conference.

NEC WOMEN'S PRIME PERFORMERS

Alissa Hurd, CCSU (Jr.)
Hurd took first in the high jump at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener with a height of 1.65 meters. Her jump is also tied for first in the conference and ranks 37th nationally. 

Tata Coulibaly, FDU (Fr.)
At the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational, Coulibaly placed in eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.16. She also ran a 26.02 to place sixth in the 200 meters . The freshman sprinter ranks third in the league in the 60m hurdles and fourth in the 200m. 

Magdalena Brogioli, SHU (So,)
Brogioli finished in the top-three in both the high jump and the 60-meter hurdles at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational. She cleared 1.65m in hte high jump to win the event. Last year's NEC Most Outstanding Rookie placed third in the hurdles event with a time of 8.88. Brogioli also finished 13th in the shot with a 10.55 meter throw. She is tied for first in the NEC and ranks 37th nationally in the high jump. She is also first on the circuit in the 60-meter hurdles. 

Jenna Engels, SHU (Jr.)
Engels nearly reached ECAC standard clearance in the pole vault with a 3.65 meter showing. Her jump earned her fourth at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational and put her first in the NEC and tied for 49th in the country.

Darla Jagrosse, STO (So.)
Jagrosse threw a personal-best in the shot put of 12.54m at the Alden Invitational. Her mark was the best in teh NEC last week. 

Kayla Oakes, STO (Fr.)
Oakes jumped a conference-leading 5.40 meters in the long jump at the Alden Invitational. She placed in fourth at her collegiate debut.
