NEC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jess Maraia, Wagner
Fr., Forward, New City, NY/Clarkstown South
Maraia totaled five points off two goals and one assist in a 1-0-1 week for Wagner. The goals and assist were the first of her collegiate career. The freshman forward's first goal came off a rebound in the 56th minute of the Seahawks' 2-2 draw against Binghamton on Sunday, while her second resulted from a Hannah Costa cross in the 81st minute to give Wagner a short-lived lead. Maraia also assisted on the game winning goal in the 52nd minute of Wagner's 1-0 road win against Iona on Thursday. The New City, NY native now ranks third in the league in goals (two) and fifth in points (five).

NEC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sam Hughes, Wagner
Jr., Goalkeeper, Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts
Hughes made seven saves as Wagner went 1-0-1 last week. The junior goalkeeper finished with a 1.000 GAA and a .905 save percentage. Hughes recorded her second shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory at Iona on Thursday, making one stop. The Pottstown, PA native turned away six shots - one of which was a penalty - in a 2-2 draw against Binghamton on Sunday. Hughes ranks second in the NEC with two shutouts this season. 

NEC WOMEN'S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

  • Scored one goal apiece in the Hornets' matches against Saint Peter's and at Rider.

Samone Knight, HOW (Jr., D)

  • Netted the game winning goal and her first at Howard off a corner kick in a 1-0 win over Longwood on Sunday.

Trinity Knox, HOW (Fr., GK)

  • Made five saves in her second shutout of the season in Howard's 1-0 victory over visiting Longwood on Sunday.
  • Ranks second in the conference with an .833 save percentage.

Roo Sawyer, MC (So., GK)

  • Saved four shots over two games over the weekend on eight shots faced in a 1-1 tie vs. Maine and 1-0 setback to Dartmouth.
  • Allowed one goal over 120:50 minutes of play.

Grace O'Hara, SHU (Jr., F/M)

  • Netted the equalizing goal in the 88th minute of a 1-1 draw with Maine on Sunday.
  • Her late heroics stretched SHU's home unbeaten streak to ten matches dating back to last season.

Madison Carr, WC (Gr., F)

  • Scored the lone goal in the 52nd minute of a 1-0 win on the road against Iona on Thursday.
  • Totaled six shots over the weekend, including three on goal.

Sam Hughes, WC (Jr., GK)

  • Made seven saves in a 1-0-1 week for Wagner
  • Shutout against Iona was her second of the season.
  • Ranks second in the league with two shutouts.
  • Selected NEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Jess Maraia, WC (Fr., F)

  • Tallied five points off two goals and one assist in two matches last week.
  • Her two goals came in a 2-2 draw against Binghamton on Sunday.
  • Credited with assist on the game winning goal in a 1-0 road win over Iona on Thursday.
  • The five points were the first of her career and boosted her into the NEC top-five in goals and points.
  • Tabbed NEC Player of the Week and NEC Rookie of the Week.
