NEC MEN'S TRACK ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Rafael Mahario, Sacred Heart
Jr., Sprints, Meridan, CT/Holy Cross
Mahario claimed his first NEC Track Athlete of the Week award of 2024 and second this indoor season after a record-breaking 400-meter performance last week. The junior sprinter broke a Sacred Heart indoor program record after clocking in at 48.07 at the Suffolk Ice Breaker Invitational. Mahario’s time is the best in the NEC and ranks 19th in NCAA Division I. He also has the highest nationally ranked time in the conference.

NEC MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Salif Mane, FDU
Sr., Jumps, Bronx, NY/Lincoln (MO)
Mane took home the gold in the long jump, clearing 7.35 meters at the Penn 10 Team Slect over the weekend. The reigning NEC long jump champion’s mark is the best in the conference and currently sits tied for 34th in the country. It marked the fifth NEC Field Athlete of the Week award that the 4x All-American has won in his career and his first of the 2023-24 indoor season. 

NEC MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jack Mason, Wagner
Fr., Sprints/Jumps
Mason claimed his fifth consecutive NEC Men’s Rookie of the Week accolade after his performance at the Penn 10 Team Select last week. The freshman jumped 14.17 meters in the triple jump to finish in second at the meet while also recording a mark of 7.11 meters in the long jump to come in third. Mason’s triple jump distance is second in the NEC, only behindhis own mark, while his long jump showing sits at fourth in the league.

NEC WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ava Mahoney, Merrimack
Sr., Distance, Marblehead, MA/Bishop Fenwick

Mahoney picked up her second NEC Track Athlete of the Week award of the indoor season after a stellar performance at the UMass Amherst Flagship Invitational over the weekend. The senior distance runner posted a league-best 9:48.57 3000 meter time to finish in fourth at the meet. Her mark also established a new Merrimack indoor program record.  

NEC WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Alissa Hurd, Central Connecticut
Jr., Jumps, Southbury, CT/Pomperaug
Hurd matched her season-best in the high jump at the UMass Amherst Flagship Invitational last week with a mark of 1.65 meters. The reigning NEC high jump champion finished in fourth at the meet. She ranks second in the conference for the event this season.

NEC WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Magui Calvo-Jorge, Wagner
Fr., Distance 
At the Penn 10 Team Select last week, Calvo-Jorge placed in sixth out of 23 runners in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.27. The freshman distance runner has the conference’s fourth-best time in the event.

NEC MEN'S PRIME PERFORMERS

Kymoy Philip, CCSU (So.)
Phillip finished in eighth in the 500m with a time of 1:05.82 at the UMass Amherst Flagship Invitational. He was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that finished third in 3:20.37. The CCSU 4x400m relay team has posted the best time in the NEC while Phillip also has achieved the best 500m time in the league.

NEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Cory Couture, MC (Jr.)
At the UMass Amherset Flagship Invitational, Couture placed second in the 200m with a time of 21.59 and claimed third in the 400m with a 48.09 mark. Both his respective times rank second in the NEC. His 400m mark is 26th in the nation while his 200m time is tied for 64th nationally.

NEC Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Nickolas Hyde, SFU (Gr.)
Hyde threw a conference-best shot put mark mark of 15.99m. He placed 11th at the Nittany Lion Challenge. 

Solomon King, STO (Sr.)
King recorded a league-best 200m time running a 21.58 at the UMass Amherst Flagship Invitational. King was also a part of a 4x400m relay team that ran 3:22.38 to finish in fifth. Stonehill's relay time is fourth in the league. King's 200m mark is tied for 61st nationally. 

Jason Marchese, WC (Sr.)
Marchese won the 200m at the Penn 10 Team Select with a time of 21.86. His time ranks fifth in the NEC. 

Julio Martinez, WC (So.)
At the Penn 10 Team Select, Martinez cleared a league-best 4.71m in the pole vault to take home tthe bronze at the meet.

NEC Men's Rookie of the Week

Dominic Palermo, WC (Gr.)
Palermo ran the best 3000m time in the NEC this season, clocking in at 8:17.28 to finish in fourth at the Penn 10 Team Select. 

NEC WOMEN'S PRIME PERFORMERS

Alissa Hurd, CCSU (Jr.)
NEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Brooke Morabito, CCSU (Sr.)
Morabito ran to a first-place finish in the Mile wiht a time of 4:49.16 at the UMass Amherst Flagship Inviational. Her time is first in the conference and is tied for 52nd among all NCAA Division I runners. 

Tamara Rawles, CCSU (So.)
At the UMass Amherst Flagship Inviational, Rawles ran an NEC-best 400m time in 57.94. She also ran on the 4x400m relay team that finished in ninth at the meet with a time of 4:07.00. The relay time ranks fourth on the conference circuit.

NEC Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Rhoda Alaban-Tafon, SFU (Sr.)
Alaban-TaFon registered the second-best 400m time in the conference, crossing the line in 58.79 seconds at the Nittany Lion Challenge. She also ran a 25.93 in the 200m that places her fifth in the league. 

Ana Blanco Duran, WC (Jr.)
Blanco Duran ran to a third-place finish in the 800m at the Penn 10 Team Select with a time of 2:17.59. Her mark also sits at second in the NEC. 

Laura Trenado, WC (So.)
Ternado finished in third in the mile with a 4:58.83 time at the Penn 10 Team Select. Her mile mark ranks foruth among all NEC runners.
