NEC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Saint Francis U’s two-time All-NEC outfielder made it back-to-back NEC Player of the Week honors to open the 2025 campaign. The Mechanicsville, VA native posted a .364 batting average and a .533 on-base percentage to lead the Red Flash at the Spiro Classic. In four games, Nash went 4-for-11 at the plate with two runs, four walks and a pair of RBI. The highlight of her weekend came on Sunday when she launched her league-leading second home run — a two-run shot — as part of a 2-for-4 effort against UNC Greensboro. A junior, Nash leads the Red Flash in a plethora of categories, including batting average (.429), OPS (1.300), slugging percentage (.762), on-base percentage (.538), walks (5), hits (9), runs (3), RBI (4), total bases (16) and homers.

NEC SOFTBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Mackenzie Gillis, Mercyhurst
Catcher/Third Base, Freshman, Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland
Last Week’s Stats: .667 AVG (4-for-6), .833 SLG%, .667 OB%, 1 2B, 3 RBI
Gillis made a splash for the Lakers in their Division I debut this past weekend. The rookie catcher/third baseman began her career by combining for a .667 batting average in a pair of games. Going 4-for-6, she drove in three runs, slugged .833 and posted a .667 on-base percentage in games against Saint Peter’s and Norfolk State on Saturday. A native of Gibsonia, PA, Gillis went a perfect 3-for-3 and drove in half of Mercyhurst’s four runs in her first-ever collegiate game. Against the Spartans, she laced her first extra-base hit — an RBI double — in the seventh inning. Gillis enters the week ranked first in the NEC in batting average and on-base percentage. She is the first-ever Laker softball player to garner weekly recognition from the NEC.
