NEC MEN’S SOCCER CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Rasmus Hansen, LIU Brooklyn

Hansen scored both of LIU Brooklyn’s goals in a 2-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday. The 2015 NEC Rookie of the Year scored his first marker off a cross from teammate Filip Nordstrom in the 18th minute to give the Blackbirds a 1-0 lead. In the 74th minute, Hansen found the back of the net from 25 yards out on a free kick. The sophomore now leads the league with 11 goals and 29 points on the season for the Blackbirds, who clinched a spot in the NEC Tournament.

Francis de Vries, Saint Francis U

De Vries scored two goals in the Red Flash’s 3-0 win over Central Connecticut on Friday. In the first half, de Vries drilled a free kick from 19 yards out and then scored on a header in the second half for a 3-0 lead. The two-time All-American and NEC Defensive Player of the Year now has three goals and seven points on the season for a Red Flash team that has now qualified for the four-team NEC Tournament in each of the last five years.

NEC MEN’S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Hadynho Sarr, Sacred Heart
Fr., M, Dakar, Senegal/West African College of the Atlantic

Sarr scored a goal in Sacred Heart’s 3-2 overtime win over Bryant on Friday. The freshman chipped the Bryant goalkeeper in the 64th minute for his second goal in as many games.

NEC HEADLINES

- In the October 25, NSCAA Division I Men Northeast Region Poll, St. Francis Brooklyn is ranked fifth, defending NEC champion LIU Brooklyn stays put at number six and Saint Francis U comes in at the nine spot.

- With wins over CCSU and FDU this weekend, last year’s tournament finalists Saint Francis U and LIU Brooklyn clinched spots in the 2016 NEC Men’s Soccer Tournament.
