NEC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Segundo Navarro, Sacred Heart

Navarro notched his first career hat trick in SHU’s 3-1 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Friday. In the 14th minute, the sophomore forward dribbled through several defenders before ripping a left-footed shot into the opposite corner for a 1-0 lead. Navarro added two more goals in the 51st and 62nd minutes for the 3-1 victory, completing the first hat trick in an NEC game since since St. Francis Brooklyn’s Dominick Falanga scored three goals against Robert Morris on October 20, 2017. Navarro currently leads the Pioneers in goals (6) and points (12).
NEC MEN'S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Callum James, St. Francis Brooklyn

James recorded a pair of shutout wins for the Terriers, making six total saves in the victories. The freshman netminder has five clean sheets over eight games in goal and has only surrendered three goals so far this season. James currently ranks second nationally in save percentage (.900) and 7th in goals against average (.383).
NEC PRIME PERFORMERS
- SHU sophomore forward Segundo Navarro (Alicante, Spain/IES Mare Nostrum) tallied the first hat trick in the NEC since 2017 with three goals in SHU’s 3-1 win over Mount St. Mary’s.
- Saint Francis U junior midfielder Lucas Rosa (Atibia, Brazil/COC Atibaia) scored two goals in SFU’s 3-1 win over CCSU.
- SFBK junior defender Vicente Gallardo (Knightdale, NC/East Wake High School) scored his first two career goals and anchored the Terrier’s backline to back-to-back shutout wins.
- Mount St. Mary’s sophomore forward Yann Kouemi (Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire/Watkins Mill) scored twice over two games for the Mountaineers.
- Mount St. Mary’s freshman forward Kyle Davis (Bowie, MD/Bowie) scored the first two goals of his career in a 4-1 win over American.
- SFBK freshman goalkeeper Callum James (Swansea, Wales/Cwmtawe Community School) recorded a pair of shutouts and made six total saves in two victories for the Terriers.
- SFBK senior midfielder Rahmi Shawki (Montreal, Canada/Ecole Secondaire Cavelier-De-LaSalle) scored two goals in a pair of victories for the Terriers.
- SFBK junior defender Edoardo Belfanti (Verona, Italy/Saint Carlo) recorded four points on one goal and two assists in two wins for the Terriers.
AROUND THE NEC
- Merrimack is currently ranked 10th (7-2-2) in the latest NCAA DI Men Northeast Region poll.
- Merrimack has won the program’s first five NEC contests and is the only unbeaten remaining in league play.
- Segundo Navarro’s hat trick is just the second in SHU men’s soccer division I program history.
