NEC WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

Anderson took gold in four events and silver in another in a two-meet week for LIU. On Friday, the Lloydminster, Alberta native earned a gold medal in the 50-yard breaststroke (30.88; 1st in NEC) and the 50-yard freestyle (24.46; 3rd in NEC) against Iona. Her second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (53.59) was fifth as she now owns four of the top five times in the conference. In the 100-yard breaststroke, the junior took first with a 1:06.74 against Saint Francis and St. Peters for the fifth fastest time in the NEC. Andersen also touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle to match her own top NEC time of 53.35 on Saturday.

In a meet against Stonehill, Wroblewski stood atop the podium in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:36.32, which ranks first in the NEC. The rookie from Farmington, CT swam an exhibition in the 100-yard back with a time of 1:04.00.

Jr., Whitfield, Northamptonshire, England/Ellesmere College
On Friday in a dual meet at Iona, Taylor took first place in the 100-yard breastroke, touching in 58.92 to record the third-best time in the NEC this season. In the 200-yard breaststroke, the junior earned another gold medal after finishing in 2:11.80 (fourth in the NEC) and placed second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:01.41 (seventh in NEC). On Saturday, Taylor grabbed a silver medal in the 100-yard breaststroke in a tri-meet against St. Peters and Saint Francis.

Fuentes won the 100-yard breastrstroke against Manhattan with a time of 1:00.81, which stacks up as the sixth fastest time in the NEC this fall. The rookie also earned a silver medal in the 50-yard breaststroke as he ranks fifth in the conference at 27.99 seconds.

Cassidy Stotler, CCSU, So.
Stotler's 27.74 was the fastest 50-fly leg in the 200 IM relay in a dual meet against Stonehill and the time also ranks second in the NEC. The sophomore won the 100-yard butterfly, touching in a conference-best 58.20. In the 50-yard freestyle exhibition, she claimed silver with a time of 25.52.

In a meet against Iona on Friday, Broersma collected two gold medals and the fastest times in the NEC in the 100-yard backstroke (56.69) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.39). The junior touched in at 2:12.21 in the 200-yard indivdual medley for a second place finish that ranks fifth in the NEC. On Saturday, Broersma took first in the 200-yard backstroke against Saint Francis U and St. Peters with a time of 2:06.95.
Ella Johnson, LIU, Gr.
On Friday, Johnson claimed the fastest NEC time in the 200-yard butterfly this season after touching the wall in 2:07.36 against Iona. The graduate student earned gold in the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.30) and took silver in the 100-yard butterfly, registering the second best time in the NEC (58.32). In Saturday'W tri-meet against Saint Francis U and St. Peters, Johnson placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.81 to rank fourth in the conference.

In a meet against Stonehill, Wroblewski stood atop the podium in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:36.32 that tops the NEC leaderboard. The rookie from Farmington, CT also swam an exhibition race in the 100-yard back with a time of 1:04.00.
Elayna Pistrin, SFBK, So.
Pistrin claimed gold medals in three events against Manhattan on Satuday. The sophomore swam a 59.49 in the 100-yard butterfly which ranks as the fifth-fastest time in the NEC. Pistrin clocked a 5:22.91 in the 500-yard freestyle and 1:00.08 in the 100-yard indivudal medley.
Aurem Pifarre, SFU, So.
In a tri-meet against LIU and St. Peters, Pifarre placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:09.29 to secure the top time in the NEC this season. The sophomore also earned a gold medal in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:44.76 that ranks second on the conference circuit.

Alejandro Pascual del Cid, LIU, Jr.
On Friday, del Cid stood tallest on the podium in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.50 that ranks third in the NEC. On Saturday, in a tri-meet against St. Peters and Saint Francis, the junior repeated a 21.50 time in the 50-yard freestyle and placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 53.56.
Daniel Chocano Fernandez, LIU, Jr.
Fernandez swam the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.78 (3rd in NEC) to place first against Saint Francis U and St. Peters. The junior collected two silver medals in the 500-yard freestyle with a fourth-best NEC time of 4:48.11 and a 10:02.12 mark in the 1000-yard freestyle which ranks third in the conference. In the 200-yard individual medley, Fernandez swam a 1:57.21 (3rd in NEC) for a first place spot on the podium.
Robert Wagner, SFBK, So.
Wagner won the 100-yard butterfly against Manhattan with the third-fastest NEC time of 52.21. The sophomore also grabbed a gold medal in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 23.76 to rank fourth in the league.
